Starlite Street Press is a boutique press based in Los Angeles that publishes upmarket literary fiction exploring the worlds of entertainment, music, art, fashion, and design. With the company philosophy of “Life in literature, Literature in life” Starlite Street Press fuses the literary ambitions of a traditional press with the mindset of a literature-focused lifestyle brand. While readers explore the lives of contemporary artists and designers in fiction, Starlite Street Press’s fiction-inspired products line, videos, and social media features help readers invite literature, culture, and art into their own lives.
About The Founder
Born and raised in south Texas, John Mitchell Morris is the founder of Starlite Street Press. His debut novel, In the Trembling Heart, will serve as the press’s inaugural work of fiction in June 2026. A former actor and writing professor, Morris has appeared in numerous TV series and films. From 2018 – 2022, he served as the Chair of College Writing at Purchase College, State University of New York. Presently, Morris practices entertainment law in Los Angeles, where he specializes in independent film and television financing. He represents an expanding list of critically acclaimed and award-winning films and TV series.
His essays have appeared in Read 650, Tweetspeak, Expose and SUNY Writes. He is a graduate of California State University, Northridge (BA), Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law (JD), and Sarah Lawrence College (MFA). Morris lives in Los Angeles.
